What it refuses
to do.
Most construction software is sold on what it will fill in for you. This is a list of the things ours declines to fill in, and the reason for each. It is the shortest honest description of how we build.
On a job site, a confident wrong number is worse than a blank one.
It will not produce a price.
Estimating assembles the scope, the quantities, and what this trade cost you last time. The number stays the estimator’s. A system that invents a price is a system that loses a job by eight percent and cannot tell you which line did it.
Estimating · takeoff and price memory
It will not invent a date.
Submittal scheduling works backward from the real lead time and the real need-by. Where a lead time is not known, the register says it is not known rather than showing a deadline nobody ever committed to.
Submittals · backward pass
It will not say a sub owns work on an unsigned purchase order.
Ask who owns the acoustic door seals and the answer arrives with its contract state attached. “They signed for it” and “the purchase order is still unsigned” are different facts, and a superintendent standing on the floor acts differently on each.
Field · scope lookup
It will not net over-billing against under-billing.
They are two different problems needing two different conversations, and a single blended number hides both. One is money you have taken and not earned. The other is money you have earned and not asked for.
WIP · over / under billing
It will not infer insurance coverage.
A certificate with no expiry date is a certificate with no expiry date. It is never quietly read as “probably still covered.” That distinction is the whole difference between a compliance file and a lawsuit.
Compliance · certificates of insurance
It will not let the record be edited.
The field log is append-only. A correction is an addition, so what was written on the 14th still reads as what was written on the 14th. A daily report you can quietly revise is not evidence of anything.
Field · daily log
It will not report a margin on work you have not bought.
Until the trades are actually awarded, a margin figure is a forecast wearing the costume of a fact. The board shows what is bought, what is chosen but not awarded, and what is still an estimate, as three separate numbers.
Buyout · cost ledger
Why we publish this.
Because it is the part a competitor cannot match with a release note. Filling in the blank is what their demo is for; here the blank is the feature. And because a contractor who has been burned by a confident dashboard recognises this list immediately, while everyone else scrolls past it. That is the correct filter.
Every rule on this page is enforced in the code, not in the marketing. If one is ever relaxed in the product, it comes off this page the same day.
